Taylor Swift to Perform with Black Eyed Peas
Taylor Swift has been confirmed as one of the Black Eyed Peas' many guests at their upcoming free benefit concert in Manhattan's Central Park on June 9th. The show, which will raise money for the poverty-fighting Robin Hood organization in New York City, will also include appearances by Carole King, MC Hammer, LL Cool J, Natasha Bedingfield, Debbie Harry and Whoopie Goldberg. Jack White Will Not Be Involved in Kinks Movie
Contrary to claims made by Kinks frontman Ray Davies in an interview with the BBC, Jack White has issued a statement that he will not be involved with a film adaptation of the band's 1975 concept album Schoolboys in Disgrace that is being developed by comedian Bobcat Goldthwait. [Pitchfork]
Stevie Wonder to be Honored at the Apollo
Stevie Wonder will be inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame at the Apollo Theater's 2011 Annual Spring Gala benefit on June 13th. The event will be hosted by Sinbad and will feature performances by Wyclef Jean, Raphael Saadiq, Paul Schaffer, Chick Corea and more. [Press release]
Jessie J Joins Katy Perry Tour
Pop singer Jessie J has been announced as a support act on the final leg of Katy Perry's California Dreams tour. The leg will kick off at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut on November 15th and include gigs at Manhattan's Madison Square Garden and the Staples Center in Los Angeles. [Press release]
Dinosaur Jr. Reissue 'Bug' on Tape
Dinosaur Jr. will be reissuing their 1988 album Bug on cassette to celebrate the band's 15-date tour in which the rockers will play the album in its entirety every night. 250 hand-numbered purple cassettes will be released by Joyful Noise Recordings. [Press release]
Beirut to Release New Album
Beirut is set to release The Rip Tide, their first album in four years, on August 30th. The record will be put out by Pompeii Records, a label created by Beirut songwriter Zach Condon with no larger label affiliation whatsoever. [Press release]
